The Atlas CMS is supported in IE7, IE8, the latest Firefox and Chrome.

The new File Manager is where you go to upload documents and images into your Media Library. It can be found by clicking the red button at the bottom left of your screen titled either Media or Media and Data. Next click, Manage Files. Your existing folder structure, including existing files, will be here.

NOTE: Your documents were previously in a folder titled "Documents". This folder has been renamed to "Files".

For custom size images–such as images on your homepage or in your secondary page header area–you still need to re-size to the proper pixel dimensions before your upload. For images that will live within page content, you can right-click on the image and click on Re-size. Then you have three available thumbnail sizes (90x90px, 120x120px or 180x180px) to choose from or you can type in either width or height.

If you want to replace an image or document that you have already uploaded into your File Manager, first delete the original image or file, then upload the new one. If you upload a file or image that already exists in the File Manager, the system will automatically create a duplicate of the file, adding a number to the end of the file name.

Your files should be as small as possible. Images shouldn't be more than 500KB and documents shouldn't be over 1MB. Your files can be bigger than this but it may cause upload issues as well as slow down your site.

If you are uploading videos into the Atlas CMS, large file sizes (above 40MB) may time out upon upload depending on your file size and connection speed. You can upload MPG or AVI files into the Atlas CMS but recommend practice for videos it to upload to YouTube and then use the Media Embed option in the editor. That way, the video platform services are handling the conversion, streaming, and storing of the videos. This allows users of your website to watch the videos without having to download them, increasing usability and video interaction.

The new Editor is where you go to edit page content. It can be found by clicking the red Pages button, then navigating to a page of your website and clicking on Edit. The editor is also referred to as the WYSIWYG editor.

While using the editor, you'll notice that the new editor displays plain text styles only. Your custom headline styles can still be applied by using the Normal drop down menu and selecting Heading 1 - Heading 6. You will see the text change in size only to denote the applied style. To view a full preview of the page (including custom headline colors, fonts and link styles), click Save and Close and then select Preview from the previous screen. Preview is to the left of Edit.

To view a full preview of the page (including custom headline and link styles), Save and Close your page then select Preview from the previous screen. Preview is to the left of Edit.

To paste your content from Microsoft Word, you no longer need to use html view. You can now use the Paste as Plain Text icon   located on the top left. Copy your text from Word, click on Paste as Plain Text, paste your text into the pop-up and choose OK. This will scrub out any Microsoft Word data that could potentially cause your text to display incorrectly.

The Embed Media icon is located on the top row. This allows you to embed videos from YouTube or Vimeo, as well as embed video/audio that you have uploaded into your Media Library. When selected, it will trigger a pop-up window with the following options:

  • Paste the full URL (a full URL includes the http://) of a YouTube or Vimeo page to embed the video – If you have videos hosted on YouTube or Vimeo, simply view the video online, copy the URL and paste into this field.
  • Browse Server – If you have uploaded video or audio to your Atlas CMS Media Library, click Browse Server to locate the file and embed the audio or video.
  • Video Width – Set the width of the video in pixels.
  • Video Height – Set the height of the video in pixels.

To edit your page using the full screen, first click on the maximize icon at the top right of the editor pop-up window . Then click on the Maximize icon in the editor .

When you are editing at full screen, you will need to Minimize back to the normal size in order to save your page.

To create anchor links, you first need to insert anchors. Anchors are where you want to link to (lower on the page). Insert your cursor where you would like to insert your anchor and click on the Anchor link   in the top left row of icons. Name your anchor using no space (example: testAnchor). An anchor icon will appear on the page letting you know you have successfully created an anchor. Next, highlight the text that you want to link (at the top of the page) and click on the Link icon . From the Link Type dropdown, select Link to anchor in the text. Then, from the By Anchor Name drop down, select the anchor you have created.

The Custom Links functionality is the same as the previous editor; it will allow you to link to another page on the site using friendly URLs. The new icon for this functionality can be found on the top row, four icons over from the right. Instead of viewing your sitemap in a long list, you will use the drop down menus to select the page you are linking to.

To insert a link to a document, highlight the text you wish to link and click on the Link icon . If you have already uploaded your document, click on the blue Browse Server button to navigate to your document. If you have not uploaded your document yet, click on the Upload tab then on the Browse… button. Once you select your file, click on Send it to the Server. Your file has now been uploaded to the server. Click OK.

To insert a tool tip (or title tag) to a document link, double click on the link and a pop-up will appear. Click on the Advanced tab and use the Advisory Title field.

To insert an image, insert your cursor where you would like the image to appear, click on the Image icon . If you have already uploaded your image, click on the blue Browser Server button to navigate to your image. If you have not uploaded your image yet, click on the Upload tab then on the Browse... button. Once you select your file, click on Send it to the Server. Your file has now been uploaded to the server. Click OK.

To view the content source (the HTML), click on the Source button on the bottom right row of icons.

Sharing content still works the same way. In the top right corner of your WYSIWYG editor, you will find the text Content Type followed by a drop down menu that is defaulted to HTML. To pull content from another page, choose Shared from the drop down. Once chosen, a small-scale site map will appear. At this point, choose the page you would like to pull content from and hit Save. The page will now automatically pull content from the page you specified. When you edit this page in the future, the screen will open to the same site navigation with the page you are pulling from highlighted. To stop sharing a page, go to the Content Type dropdown and select HTML—this will bring you back to the standard editor.

IMPORTANT: If you have content on a page and change the Content Type from HTML to Shared, your content will be replaced with the shared content. Only share to pages that have no content already in them.
